Michael John Wiedel (Jack) Friday, September 16, 2016 Jack Wiedel passed away September 16, 2016 at the age of 74 in Fountain Hills Manor Assisted Living Center, Fountain Hills, AZ. Jack was later cremated at the Legacy Funeral Home Mesa, AZ. A memorial service is planned for May, 2017 at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, Seaside, CA. He was born February 26, 1942 in Hebron, NE. His parents were Benjamin and Burnece (Hergott) Wiedel of Hebron, NE. Jack grew up on a farm near Stoddard, NE. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School thru the eighth grade and graduated from Hebron High School in 1960. Jack farmed with his father, Ben, until called to active military duty at Fort Carson, CO. After the Army, the Boyce farm near Hubbell, NE was purchased and became home to the family. Jack farmed and raised cattle in partnership with his father Benjamin. They also had a cow herd and feedlot operation. Jack was a fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus, helped coach the boy's baseball team for several years, played baseball while in the army and continued to play softball for many years after returning home. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Hebron Country Club where he enjoyed many rounds of golf and the Thayer County Livestock Feeders Association. Jack was an avid Cornhusker fan, shared a love of baseball and the Arizona Diamondbacks with his wife, Peggy and together they would often share their love of golf at a favorite course in Sedona, AZ. Jack is survived by his wife Peggy Dein, formerly of Hebron, NE. Peggy continues to live in Rio Verde, AZ where they had lived for many years and continues to own the family business.The UPS store, In Phoenix, AZ. Jack retired from the US Postal Service October 30, 2004. He is survived by his children, Dawn of Lincoln, NE, Michael of Chicago, IL., Jerrod of Hebron, NE and stepson R. Bryan Dein of Scottsdale, AZ. He is also survived by sisters, Jeanette Else, Darlene Emanuel, Cathy Wiedel and Joan Hintz and all of the extended families including four Grandchildren and one Great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Burnece Wiedel, sister Dorothy Hintz, stepfather Ferd McKenzie and grandson Logan R Dein.
